What's it about?
Well, I have a really interesting idea about a boy wizard who goes to a school called Hogwarts and ... What do you mean someone has already written that book? Well, that's disappointing.
What’s your favorite pasta shape?
I was actually asked that once during a school visit. Luckily I have an answer: farfalle (bow-tie) pasta.

How far out do I need to book a school or library visit?
Earlier is always better, especially if you aren’t flexible on what day I visit. Some schools book a year in advance, but other schools need me in three weeks and they get lucky—you never know.
How can I order your books?
You’ll find many at your local book store, but if not, they are available online at your favorite book site including amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. Better yet, call your local independent bookstore.
Where did you go to school?
I grew up in Okemos, Michigan (near East Lansing) and went to college at the University of Michigan.
Why do you always wear a hat?
A family of squirrels live on my head and they are very shy.
Were you really that cute in 3rd grade?
Why, yes, I was.
Do you write anything other than books?
I’ve been an advertising and marketing writer longer than I’ve written for children. I write websites, TV and radio commercials, brochures, tag lines, nomenclature (a fancy word that means I create names for companies and products), blog posts, emails, billboards, articles, and much more.
